The Tennessee Promise Scholarship is both a scholarship and mentorship program designed to help high school graduates further their education. The scholarship provides high school graduates in Tennessee the opportunity to study at Southwest Tennessee Community College. The Tennessee Promise Scholarship offers tuition scholarships to students seeking to study in the Southwest Tennessee Community College.
Tennessee Promise Scholarship aims at providing the necessary facilities students need to thrive in their academics. They will have access to good and quality education with relieved financial burden. This will secure the future of students and also exponentially increase the number of students pursuing a degree in the college.
The Tennessee Promise scholarship will cover tuition and fees not covered by the Hope Scholarship, Pell grant, or state student assistance funds.
The scholarship also makes mentoring one of its key procedures in improving the lives of aspiring students. Beneficiaries of the scholarship will be assigned mentors that will put them through the admission process.
•Beneficiaries of the scholarship must complete eight hours of community service each semester they are enrolled.
•Applicants must maintain a minimum of 2.0 cumulative GPA.
•High School seniors are also eligible for a two-year tuition award which start in November every year.
High school students seeking to participate in the 2 years award must meet the following criteria and deadlines.
•Applicants must submit their applications by March 1, 2021.
•Applicants are to then complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Southwest Tennessee Community College admission form.
•Candidates must be able to attend the first and the second mandatory meeting coordinated by the partnering organization.
•Candidates who receive their admission letter are to log into the My.Southwest student portal and complete all the required requirements for the Financial Aid student requirements. Candidates who are unable to complete all requirements will forfeit the scholarship.
To renew your scholarships, candidates must ensure they follow the following requirements.
•Must maintain a minimum of 2.0 cumulative GPA
•Must complete and report eight (8) hours of community service each year before the appointed deadline.
•Must complete the Free Application For Federal Students Aid (FAFSA) between October 1 and February 1.
•Each semester, candidates must enroll in a minimum of 12 or more credit hours.
