The APIA Scholarship is a national scholarship that offers to fund incoming and returning Asian Pacific Islander American (APIA) undergraduate students at any accredited United States college or university. Every year, over $1.6 million in scholarship is awarded to eligible Asian Pacific Islander Americans who are either new students enrolling to study an undergraduate course at an accredited U.S. college or university or existing college or university students returning for another session.

The scholarship aims at funding the education of underserved APIA students who are in or below the average poverty level. The scholarship awards funding ranges from one-time $2,500 awards to multi-year $20,000 awards.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the APIA Scholarship, candidates must ensure that they meet the following requirements:

•Candidate must be a United States citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
•Citizens of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of Palau can also apply.
•Must have Asian and/or Pacific Islander origin.
•Candidates must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale or have obtained a GED.
•Must be enrolled or enrolling to study an undergraduate program in a U.S. accredited college or university.
•Applicants must be the first to attend a college or university in their families.
•Applicants must have a brilliant record of academic achievements.
•Must possess leadership skills and also place a strong priority on community service.
•Candidates must apply for federal financial aid for the 2022-2023 academic year via the Free Application for the Federal Student Aid (FASFA) by April 2022.

Application Procedures

To apply for the APIA Scholarship Program, aspirants must complete an online application using the Kaleidoscope Website and submit the application electronically once the application is complete. The scholarship gives students the opportunity to create a strong application as applicants can edit their answers as many times as they want with their logins.

Application Deadline

The application for the APIA Scholarship program is available from September 8, 2021, until January 26, 2022, at 5:00 PM EST.
